The third ‘Cocktails and Collage’ evening takes place on Wednesday 6th December at Port Hotel.
The theme set is ‘Come As You Are - Collage Portraits of Identity, Heritage, and Belonging’, inspired by Barbara Walker’s ‘Burden Of Proof’ Turner Nominated work at Towner Art Gallery in which she brings careful attention and visibility to individuals and families affected by the Windrush scandal.
This collage evening is an exploration of the essence that defines you - a journey into your personal history, heritage, and your current sense of self. It's an opportunity to claim your space and tell your story through the powerful medium of collage. Whether it’s a representation of a place, a community, or a shared history, your collage can be a canvas for expressing diverse aspects of belonging and identity.
Each one of the collage evenings at Port is designed to be inclusive, welcoming individuals of all abilities. A wide array of materials, patterns, type, magazines and paper will be available, ensuring that everyone can actively participate and express themselves.
For this session, feel free to bring any personal photos, whether original prints or photocopies, along with any ephemera that holds significance to you. These cherished items will add a personal touch to your collage, enriching the narrative of your identity, heritage, and sense of belonging.
Please note that tickets are non-refundable. Drinks are not included in the ticket price.
